Résumé |
The interaction of perceptual properties related to percussion instruments and mallets was studied. List
eners were asked to classify as quickly as possible the sounds as coming from one of two instruments or produced b
y one of two mallets. The sounds varied only in the criterial dimension or in an uncorrelated or correlated way al
ong the noncriterial dimension. Performance scores and reaction times suggest that perceptual interactions between
complex, source-related properties exist at an early stage of processing, but become more independent at later st
ages of processing.
