Résumé |
While digital audio effects are currently in widespread use and new dsp plugins appear on a daily basis, they often take a black-box approach, hiding vital parameters to the user. This fact, and the generally limited ways in which sound designing and compo-sitional tools can represent sounds and their spectral content, makes it very difficult to take advantage of the full processing potential of modern software and hardware. This article talks about ways in which to use analysis to obtain better processing results, and how these techniques are imple-mented in IRCAM's AudioSculpt application. Also discussed are the advantages of using the SDIF format to exchange analysis data between various software components, which has facilitated the integration of new analysis and processing algorithms. |
