%X This report presents a study on gestural control applied to sound synthesis. It starts with a review of previous works in the field, such as different gesture classifications, the analysis of feedback available for the performer and the matching between feedback, musical function and type of transducer.
In order to prove the validity of previous studies presented in the literature, two different user tests have been devised, implemented and evaluated. These tests consisted in proposing the subjects different transducers for realizing one defined musical task using a Wacom graphic tablet as an input device controlling the CHANT software. User reactions were annotated and further evaluated. Moreover, a methodology for testing available controllers in a musical context had to be devised and is hereby presented.
An analysis of both tests’ results is presented which validate some previous works.
